Lotusfire was born in the summer of 2006. We are a small coven of witches based in Westchester County, New York, that, by the grace of the Goddess, found each other and continued our journey in the Craft together. Though based in Tarrytown, we are geographically dispersed from NYC to Maine. We are friendly, energetic, extremely talkative, and unpretentious. We share a common connection in our exaltation of the Goddess, respect for nature, interests in learning and personal growth, and the desire to create family and community. We usually meet once a month for either Sabbat or Esbat, and occasionally for social or learning sessions. We are currently five strong; one serving as teacher and elder to the group. Formal teaching occurs in the form of monthly reading handouts and exercises, as well as, at least three individual sessions a year. Circles and rituals are always planned and usually, but not always, led by the teacher, Sky. Dedication rituals are done when a new member and the coven mutually decide to work together. After a year of study, Dedicants may accept and pass the "challenge" and ask for Initiation into Lotusfire. We do not follow the Gardnarian tradition of a three-degree Initiation system however we acknowledge the levels of Dedicant, Initiate and Elder. Our journey is about connecting to each other in spirit and energy, learning through studying diverse traditions, as well as, the "basics", experiencing the Goddess and magick, and growing stronger through love and will.
